Enrollment and Attendance FAQs

What grades are offered by Pine Springs Preparatory Virtual Academy (PSPVA)?
PSPVA serves North Carolina students in grades K–12. Any student in grades K–11 who resides in North Carolina is eligible for full-time enrollment.PSPVA accepts enrollments for new students in grades K–10. New students in grade 11 and 12 could be considered for enrollment if they have siblings currently enrolled in the school. Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis.
Does enrolling at PSPVA give me priority to the blended or in-person options?
No. Students enrolling in PSVPA are choosing this specific virtual learning option. Enrollment in the virtual academy does not transfer to Pine Springs Prep’s traditional or blended academies. Students commit to staying in the virtual academy for the entire school year.
What does it cost to attend PSPVA?
Since PSPVA is a public school program, there is no tuition. PSPVA provides North Carolina-licensed teachers and all instructional materials for the program.* However, students and families are responsible for providing some consumable materials (such as printer ink and paper). In addition, families are required to provide their own computers and internet access to participate in the program. PSPVA will provide loaner computers as needed, and this determination will take place during the enrollment process.
What information is required to enroll?
Interested students need to submit an application, and there is additional documentation to upload as part of the enrollment process. Visit our How To Enroll page for more information.
What is the attendance policy?
As a public school, PSPVA follows applicable state laws and attendance requirements. PSPVA works with families toward a positive attendance record to meet the required 185 instructional days. A parent or Learning Coach logs attendance daily in the Online School.
*Materials vary by course and grade. Please check with the school staff to see what offline course materials are provided.
