Online Learning Day

More families are turning to virtual education for their children. A recent survey by the National School Choice Awareness Foundation found that 60% of parents considered sending at least one of their kids to a new school last year, and 27% of those parents explored a full-time online option.

Earlier this month, on September 15 – National Online Learning Day – we celebrated the impact of virtual learning and its growing role in shaping the future of education.

This year, we’re excited to mark the occasion at Pine Springs Preparatory Virtual Academy (PSPVA). As one of North Carolina’s newest full-time online public schools, PSPVA opened its virtual doors a little over a year ago. In that short time, we’ve begun building a strong and supportive learning community. Here are a few ways PSPVA is laying the foundation for student success:

Adaptability: PSPVA is proud to meet students where they are. By moving away from the traditional one-size-fits-all approach, the school gives students the opportunity to learn at their own pace while still benefiting from live instruction and meaningful connections with teachers.

Academic Support: PSPVA offers a strong academic support system to guide students every step of the way. Students benefit from small group instruction, enrichment activities, gamified learning, and individualized help from state-certified teachers who are dedicated to student success.

Access: PSPVA offers award-winning K12 curriculum, state-certified teachers, and all the resources students need to succeed. Parents are empowered to be active participants in their child’s education, partnering with teachers to support academic growth.

Maria, a senior at PSPVA, lives in a remote area of Western North Carolina, and online education gives her access to education in more ways than one.

“I have a chronic illness that made it hard for me to continue attending my brick-and-mortar school. I need more flexibility and PSPVA makes that possible for me.”

Possibilities: Though PSPVA is just getting started, we’re excited to prepare our students for the future by immersing them in innovative technology and hands-on experiences. PSPVA also offers career and college readiness opportunities, allowing students to explore career pathways, earn college credits, or gain job-ready certificates while still in high school.

This National Online Learning Day, we celebrate an evolving educational landscape – one that prioritizes personalized learning and meets students where they are.
